History

The school was built in 1958 on the site of Hornsea House, with 500 pupils. This included an institute of further education. By 1971, the school population had grown to over 1,000 and became a Comprehensive School.[1] The new sixth form college was built on a part of the school playing fields. A self-sufficient building, it is separated from the school and is off limits to school students. The building features a common room, a large library and computer room, a conference room and several teaching rooms. A cafeteria worker is on hand to sell hot and cold food to students.
